Class Q to New Builds

LPS were instructed to obtain Class Q approval for the conversion of two agricultural buildings to three residential dwellings.
Following obtaining Class Q approval to convert existing agricultural buildings to residential dwellings, we then obtained permission to demolish the existing agricultural buildings and construct 3 single storey new build dwellings.
Having established the principle of converting the agricultural buildings under permitted development Class Q, this created a 'Fall Back' position which was a material consideration in proposing to build three new purpose built and energy efficient homes in lieu of the original Class Q approval. For our client, this had significant benefits in terms of development timescales and cost efficiency along with providing a better standard of housing.
